Rendering A Black Hole in Unreal Engine 5 is a training course featuring over 5 hours of content over 14 chapters. The vast majority of the series is done inside of Unreal Engine 5 in conjunction with Visual Studio Code, which is free software from Microsoft used to do light weight code editing.

There's also a chapter done inside of Blender, which is also free software.

This series also comes with the project file that contains the black hole shader. You'll need to drop the shader files in the appropriate directory for them to work.

The first three chapters are free to view on the Overdraw.xyz youtube channel.

Technical Skill

It's possible to do this tutorial without any HLSL experience, however it will likely be challenging since I don't spend that much time going over every line of code that's written. However if you're versed with build materials in Unreal Engine with the material editor, you should probably be fine, since all of those core concepts carry over.
